DC launches NFT collection with a piece based on Superman
DC Comics dives deep into the NFT world. That's why they announced DC Collectible Comics, or DC3, whose first release, an NFT for Superman #1, will cost $9.99.
The piece will come in a variety of 'rarities' that will correspond to different covers for the issue. Per the release, the collection will feature weekly releases, which can be bought and sold (subject to terms and conditions) on the fan marketplace at nft.dcuniverse.com.
It will be released in two categories, Legacy and Modern. Legacy comics include classic comic releases that may have been out of print for years. Modern Comics, meanwhile, will highlight a selection of recent releases from DC's extensive line of comics.
Each DC Collectible Comic will have one of five rarity levels that are randomly assigned at the time of purchase: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, or Legendary. And each comic in your collection will unlock the corresponding full issue in the DC NFT online comic reader. The buyer will be able to read your comics at any time and build their own library of collectible DC comics.
Each level will involve a "digital attrition" that will appear in the comic. The promoters of the initiative explained the curiosity.
The first DC collectible comic to be sold on the blockchain is Superman #1. The planned release date is October 27. Featuring the origin of the Man of Steel, Clark Kent's first day at the Daily Star newspaper, and Superman, this iconic 1939 release is written by Jerry Siegel, with art by Joe Shuster and Fred Guardineer. The release of Superman #1 will be limited to 3,000 minted editions.
The collection is minted on the Palm blockchain. Matt Mason, director of content for Palm NFT Studio, was happy with the project.
